Jefferson Airplane was an American rock band formed in San Francisco in 1965. A pioneer of the psychedelic rock movement, Jefferson Airplane was one of the most prominent bands of the San Francisco scene during the late 1960s and early 1970s. The band's classic lineup consisted of Marty Balin, Paul Kantner, Grace Slick, Jorma Kaukonen, Jack Casady, and Spencer Dryden. They achieved significant commercial and critical success with their 1967 album "Surrealistic Pillow," which featured hits such as "Somebody to Love" and "White Rabbit." The band's music was known for its vocal harmonies and political lyrics, as showcased in their 1969 album "Volunteers." Throughout their career, they continued to evolve musically and experienced various lineup changes. Jefferson Airplane's influence extended beyond music; they became symbols of the counterculture era. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996.
