Iotunn is a progressive metal band hailing from Denmark. Formed in 2015, the band consists of members with a passion for creating expansive and atmospheric music that blends elements of heavy metal with progressive and melodic influences. Iotunn gained recognition in the metal community with their debut full-length album "Access All Worlds," released in 2021. This album showcases the band's ability to craft intricate compositions with thematic depth, earning them acclaim within the progressive metal scene. The band's name, Iotunn (pronounced "yo-tun"), is derived from Old Norse mythology, where Jotunns are a race of giants, which reflects the grand scale and ambition of their musical endeavors. Prior to "Access All Worlds," Iotunn also released an EP titled "The Wizard Falls" in 2016, further establishing their presence in the genre. The band's lineup includes Jesper Gräs on guitars, Jens Nicolai Gräs on guitars, Jón Aldará on vocals, Eskil Rask on bass, and Bjørn Wind Andersen on drums. Their work is characterized by a blend of technical proficiency and emotive storytelling, appealing to fans of complex and layered metal music.
