System of a Down is an Armenian-American heavy metal band formed in Glendale, California, in 1994. The band consists of Serj Tankian (lead vocals, keyboards), Daron Malakian (guitars, vocals), Shavo Odadjian (bass, backing vocals), and John Dolmayan (drums). They gained popularity with their self-titled debut album in 1998 but achieved massive success with their second album "Toxicity" in 2001, which included hits such as "Chop Suey!" and the title track "Toxicity". Their music is known for its distinctive blend of alternative metal, hard rock, and elements of Armenian music, along with lyrics that often address political and social issues.
