A loving tribute to legendary British guitarist and songwriter Michael Chapman with cover versions by Lucinda Williams and Thurston Moore and others. Michael Chapman began his career on the Cornish folk scene in 1967. He recorded four legendary albums on the roster of the Harvest label, which was also home to Pink Floyd and Deep Purple. The influential Fully Qualified Survivor was John Peel's favourite record in 1970 and featured future Bowie collaborator Mick Ronson. After decades of recording and touring, Chapman still remained relatively unknown in America until Thurston Moore interviewed him at length for Fretboard Magazine in 2009. Chapman toured extensively with the now-deceased guitarist Jack Rose and, more recently, Bill Callahan. The Light In The Attic label recently launched a series of reissues of his Harvest-era compositions, while Tompkins Square has brought out the internationally successful double-CD "Trainsong : Guitar Compositions, 1967-2010". All of this has brought new attention to the unique guitarist and composer. The book, "Oh Michael, Look What You've Done: Friends Play Michael Chapman" was compiled by Michael's wife Andru and Josh Rosenthal of Tompkins Square, gathering artists who have shared the stage with him or have a personal connection to him. Contemporaries such as Bridget St. John, Maddy Prior and Rick Kemp (Steeleye Span) are included, as well as young whippersnappers who were influenced by Chapman.
