Eccentrically played country blues from the edges of the Kalahari. A compilation of Botswana guitarists. David Aglow, head of The Vital Record, got his hands on a video in 2009 that, years and thousands of miles later, became the compilation "I'm Not Here To Hunt Rabbits". He spotted a group of country blues musicians from Botswana playing guitar from above using a very unique finger picking technique. The stringing was also unusual. Although they were standard six-string instruments, they only had four strings. And apparently they were tuned only by ear and whim. Where did these peculiarities come from, how did they evolve? No one knows exactly. But Aglow wanted to know everything about this eccentrically played sound. He found out and let us take part. His compilation, released on vinyl and digitally in collaboration with The Vital Record on Piranha, features eleven tracks (and eight bonus downloadable songs) by Ronald Moipolai, Solly Sebots, Batlaadir Radipits, Sibongile Kgil and others - artists who make music for a living in their own way, whether on tour in Africa, China and Sweden, or at corporate events or the local pub. Their engaging and lively stories are collected in a 36-page booklet.
