Rare recordings from Ghana and Nigeria; exclusive: the first recordings of Fela Kuti. Soundway Records together with compiler and highlife researcher Dr. Markus Coester present a very special compilation. The double CD and triple vinyl with bonus seven-inch single (with download code) tells the story of the early days of highlife in Nigeria and Ghana in the 1960s. The collection follows the tracks from West Africa to London until - with the addition of jazz, mambo and calypso - the Afro sound of the 1970s slowly emerges. Among the 38 tracks are previously unreleased early recordings by Afrobeat legend Fela Kuti with his former band The Highlife Rakers. They were recorded in London in 1960 and were previously thought to be lost. This compilation is in a way a precursor to the basic compilations "Nigeria Special" and "Ghana Special". "Highlife On The Move" comes with a 44 page CD or 14 page booklet on LP, rare photos and notes by Dr. Coester.
