Return to Fantasy is the ninth studio album by British rock band Uriah Heep , released in 1975. It was the band's first album after the departure of lead singer David Byron and the first to feature John Lawton on vocals. The album reached number 12 in the UK Albums Chart and was awarded a Silver Certificate by the British Phonographic Industry. The album was recorded at Roundhouse Recording Studios in London and was produced by Gerry Bron. It was the first album to feature a new line-up of John Lawton (vocals), Ken Hensley (keyboards), Lee Kerslake (drums) and Gary Thain (bass). The album cover was designed by Hipgnosis and features a photograph of the band by Storm Thorgerson. The first single from the album, "Free Me", was released in February 1975 and reached number 38 in the UK Singles Chart. The second single from the album, "Stealin'", was released in May 1975 and reached number 49 in the UK Singles Chart. The album Return to Fantasy was well received by critics. In a review for AllMusic, Bruce Eder wrote: "With John Lawton on board.
