The live material on Hendrix In The West comes from three different Hendrix concerts. These are recordings of his concerts at the Berkeley Community Theater, the San Diego Sports Arena and the Isle Of Wight Festival. We relive Hendrix in 1969-1970, when he discovered entirely new dimensions of sound. Robert Christgau, one of the critics of American music journalism, called Hendrix's interpretations of "Red Horse" and "Johnny B. Goode" "the ultimate versions" of these songs. Hendrix In The West has been out of print in the U.S. since 1974, and even abroad these recordings have not been found in mainstream stores for more than 20 years. Now, one of Hendrix's most sought-after albums has finally made its way back into record stores. In addition to the aforementioned concert recordings, the reissue of Hendrix In The West also includes five previously unreleased tracks. The cover features a classic photograph of the guitarist by Jim Marshall, and the accompanying 20-page booklet is also filled with rare, never-before-seen images by the photographer.
