Music history from the Hendrix archives It's not every day: with "Both Sides Of The Sky", another posthumous Jimi Hendrix album is released in 2018 with a few surprises. This is the third and final part of a trilogy with archival recordings. So far, "Valleys Of Neptune" (2010) and "People, Hell And Angels" (2013) have been released. On "Both Sides Of The Sky" a total of 13 tracks that were recorded between January 1968 and February 1970 await. A total of ten of these recordings have never been released before. Many of the songs were written by the trio that would later become known as Band Of Gypsys: Hendrix on vocals and guitar, Billy Cox on bass and Buddy Miles on drums. The song "Hear My Train A Comin'" features the original Jimi Hendrix Experience line-up again: Hendrix, bassist Noel Redding and drummer Mitch Mitchell. "Both Sides Of The Sky" also features guest appearances by Stephen Stills, Johnny Winter and singer and saxophonist Lonnie Youngblood. Stills appears on two tracks, a cover version of Joni Mitchell's "Woodstock" and "$20 Fine". A full track listing of the album can be found below. The album was produced by engineer Eddie Kramer, John McDermott and Jimi's sister Janie Hendrix. And finally: with Jimi Hendrix's "Both Sides Of The Sky," another piece of musical history is coming out of the archives in 2018.
