After an incredible 18 years, Faith No More released a new studio album in May 2015. The reaction in the media and in the charts was fantastic, which is not a given after such a long hiatus. To mark the anniversary, Warner Music has released these two great classics from their catalogue, which laid the foundations for the band's cult status in 1989 and 1992, in lavish deluxe editions. They sounded like no other band and this was the key to their worldwide success, which led them to six gold and three platinum awards internationally, including a gold record in Germany for "Angel Dust". The breakthrough came in 1989 with "The Real Thing", the band's third album, but the first to be recorded with the successful line-up of Mike Bordin (drums), Roddy Bottum (keyboards), Bill Gould (bass), Jim Martin (guitars) and singer Mike Patton. The album impressed with a great variety of styles, but the songs were united by a distinctive sound and a unified energy. It went platinum in the US and broke into the Top 40 in Germany. After more than extensive touring, Faith No More returned in 1992 with Angel Dust. The album immediately climbed to number 10 in the US charts and even to number 8 in Germany! It went gold both here and in the US. The album, which was soon recognized as one of the band's most important albums, ranges between extremes: On the one hand very aggressive and disturbing, on the other hand incredibly beautiful and calming. Songs like Midlife Crisis, Jizzlobber. R.V. and Small Victory, revealed all the faces of the band. Among the eleven tracks on the bonus LP are another mix of Midlife Crisis, provided by the band's longtime producer Matt Wallace, a trio of live recordings from Munich, a cover of Let's Lynch The Landlord by the Dead Kennedys, and a memorable version of Easy by the Commodores.
