Whiplash

Whiplash is an American thrash metal band that was formed in 1984 in Passaic, New Jersey. The group is known for its aggressive style and has been a part of the East Coast thrash metal scene. The original lineup consisted of Tony Portaro (vocals and guitar), Tony Bono (bass), and Joe Cangelosi (drums). They gained recognition with their debut album "Power and Pain" released in 1986, which showcased their raw energy and speed. Following up with "Ticket to Mayhem" in 1987, they continued to build their reputation within the metal community. Over the years, Whiplash has experienced several lineup changes and periods of inactivity but has maintained a presence in the thrash metal genre. Their body of work also includes "The Roadrunner Years," which is a compilation that highlights their time with the Roadrunner Records label. Despite not achieving mainstream success, Whiplash has retained a dedicated fan base and is respected for their contributions to the thrash metal scene.
