Dexys Midnight Runners, often shortened to Dexys, is a British pop band that achieved major success in the early 1980s. Formed in Birmingham in 1978 by Kevin Rowland (vocalist and songwriter) and Kevin "Al" Archer (guitarist and vocalist), the band is known for their soulful sound and eclectic style, which incorporates elements of soul, new wave, and Celtic folk. Their most famous hit, "Come On Eileen," from their second album "Too-Rye-Ay" released in 1982, reached number one on the charts in several countries, including the UK and the US. The song's distinctive blend of violin, banjo, and strong vocals helped it become an enduring classic.
