Tribal Tech

Tribal Tech

Fusion Virtuosos

Tribal Tech is an American jazz fusion band formed in 1984 by guitarist Scott Henderson and bassist Gary Willis. The band is known for its innovative and complex music, which blends elements of jazz, rock, and funk. Throughout their career, Tribal Tech has been highly regarded for their musicianship and have contributed significantly to the development of fusion genre. The core members of the band, Henderson and Willis, have been complemented by a rotating cast of talented musicians over the years, including keyboardists Scott Kinsey and David Goldblatt, as well as drummers Kirk Covington and Joey Heredia. Tribal Tech has released several albums that showcase their technical prowess and improvisational skills. Their discography includes critically acclaimed works such as "Illicit" (1992), "Thick" (1999), and "Rocket Science" (2000). The band's approach often involves collective improvisation, resembling a "jam" session, where each member contributes to the composition in real-time. Despite taking a hiatus in the mid-2000s, Tribal Tech reunited to release another album in 2013 called "X," further cementing their legacy as pioneers in the fusion genre.
