The Strokes are an American rock band formed in New York City in 1998. The band is composed of Julian Casablancas (lead vocals), Nick Valensi (guitar, backing vocals), Albert Hammond Jr. (guitar, backing vocals), Nikolai Fraiture (bass), and Fabrizio Moretti (drums). They are considered one of the most prominent bands in the garage rock revival of the early 2000s, influencing many subsequent acts with their distinct sound and style. The Strokes achieved widespread acclaim with their debut album "Is This It" released in 2001, which was praised for its raw energy and tightly crafted songs. Their follow-up album, "Room On Fire" (2003), continued their success with a similar musical approach. Over the years, they have released several albums, including "First Impressions of Earth" (2006) and "Angles" (2011). After a period of hiatus and solo projects, they returned with "Comedown Machine" in 2013. In 2020, The Strokes released their sixth studio album, "The New Abnormal," which earned them their first Grammy Award for Best Rock Album in 2021. The band's influence on modern rock music is significant, and they remain an active and respected force within the industry.
