The Pretty Things

British R&B and psychedelic rock band

The Pretty Things were an influential English rock band that formed in September 1963. Originating from the same London blues scene as the Rolling Stones, they were known for their raw, energetic R&B sound in their early years. The band was led by singer Phil May and guitarist Dick Taylor, the latter of whom had previously played with Mick Jagger and Keith Richards in an early incarnation of the Rolling Stones. Over time, The Pretty Things evolved their style significantly, embracing psychedelic rock and being credited with creating one of the first rock operas with their album "S.F. Sorrow" in 1968. This album is often seen as a significant influence on the development of progressive rock.
