The Merseybeats are a British pop/rock band that emerged from the Liverpool music scene in the early 1960s, during a period that became famously known as the Merseybeat era. The group was originally formed in 1961 by Tony Crane and Billy Kinsley, and they quickly became one of the many acts associated with the vibrant music scene around the Mersey River, which also produced bands like The Beatles. The Merseybeats are best known for their hit singles such as "I Think of You," which reached the UK Top 5, and "Don't Turn Around," which also charted. Their melodic sound, characterized by harmonious vocals and jangly guitars, was typical of the Merseybeat style.
