The Knife was a Swedish electronic music duo consisting of siblings Karin Dreijer and Olof Dreijer. Formed in 1999, they first gained international recognition with their 2003 album "Deep Cuts," which included the hit single "Heartbeats." Their music is known for its unique blend of experimental sounds, incorporating elements of synth-pop, techno, and avant-garde. The Knife's 2006 album "Silent Shout" was critically acclaimed, further establishing their reputation for innovative production and dark, atmospheric soundscapes. The duo was also known for their political activism and visually striking performances that often challenged conventional norms of identity and presentation. After a series of successful projects and tours, The Knife disbanded following the completion of their "Shaking the Habitual" tour, with their final performance captured in the live album "Live At Terminal 5," released posthumously in 2017.
