The Gossip

The Gossip was an American indie rock band that originated in Olympia, Washington, in 1999. Fronted by the charismatic Beth Ditto, the band's music is a blend of punk, soul, and dance, with a raw and energetic sound that garnered them a dedicated following. The band consisted of vocalist Beth Ditto, guitarist Brace Paine, and drummer Hannah Blilie. They first gained significant attention with their third studio album, "Standing in the Way of Control" (2006), which was released in response to the Federal Marriage Amendment to outlaw same-sex marriage in the United States. The title track became an anthem for the LGBT community and propelled the band to greater international fame. The Gossip continued to tour extensively and released subsequent albums including "Music for Men" (2009) and "A Joyful Noise" (2012). The band's live performances were particularly noted for Ditto's powerful voice and commanding stage presence. In 2016, The Gossip announced their hiatus as members pursued other projects.
