Tete Montoliu (1933–1997) was a renowned Catalan jazz pianist from Barcelona, Spain. Born blind, Montoliu overcame his disability to become one of Europe's most respected jazz musicians. He was known for his exceptional technique and his ability to play a wide range of styles, from bebop to hard bop and free jazz. Montoliu began recording in the 1950s and gained international recognition in the 1960s after performing with leading jazz figures such as Lionel Hampton and Kenny Dorham. Throughout his career, he worked with many prominent artists, including Dexter Gordon, Ben Webster, and Johnny Griffin.
