Telex

Telex

Belgian Synthpop Pioneers

Telex was a Belgian synthpop group formed in 1978 by Marc Moulin, Dan Lacksman, and Michel Moers. Known for their irreverent approach to pop music, they fused disco, punk, and electronic influences into a playful and innovative sound. Telex aimed to create a new kind of pop music that was entirely electronic, and they were pioneers in the use of synthesizers and electronic production techniques. They represented Belgium in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1980 with the song "Eurovision," which was a tongue-in-cheek performance that parodied the contest itself. Despite or perhaps because of their unconventional approach, they did not win but succeeded in gaining international attention. Over the years, Telex released several albums and singles, contributing to the development of electronic music in Europe. Their work has been influential across various genres, from synthpop to new wave and beyond.
