Rhiannon Giddens is an American musician, singer, and songwriter known for her rich interpretations of American folk music, including country, blues, and old-time music. She is a classically trained opera singer and plays multiple instruments, but she is most recognized for her skill with the banjo and fiddle. Giddens first gained recognition as a founding member of the Grammy Award-winning African-American folk band Carolina Chocolate Drops, where she showcased her talents in reviving traditional African-American string band music.
