Rational Youth is a Canadian synthpop band that was formed in 1981 by Tracy Howe and Bill Vorn. The band is considered one of the first to bring the synthpop genre to Canada, drawing inspiration from British acts like The Human League. Their debut album, "Cold War Night Life," released in 1982, quickly became one of the cornerstones of Canadian synthpop and is often cited as a classic in the genre. Rational Youth's music was characterized by its use of synthesizers, electronic beats, and socially conscious lyrics, often reflecting on themes of technology, isolation, and political tension during the Cold War era.
