Norwegian Jazz Trumpeter and Composer

Nils Petter Molvær, also known as NPM, is a Norwegian jazz trumpeter, composer, and producer who has been a pioneering figure in the fusion of jazz with electronic music. Born on September 18, 1960, in Sula, Norway, Molvær began playing trumpet at the age of 11 and later attended the Trondheim Conservatory of Music. He emerged on the jazz scene in the late 1980s and became well-known for his work with the group Masqualero. However, it was his 1997 solo album "Khmer" released on the ECM label that marked a significant turning point in his career and is often credited with launching the genre of future jazz or Nordic jazz.
