The Minnesota Orchestra, known for its distinguished performances and recordings, is one of the leading American orchestras with a rich history that dates back to its founding in 1903. Originally named the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra, it adopted its current name in 1968 to reflect its growing reputation and statewide presence. Throughout its career, the orchestra has been led by a series of renowned music directors, including Eugene Ormandy, Antal Dorati, Sir Neville Marriner, Edo de Waart, Osmo Vänskä, and most recently, in 2020, Finnish conductor Osmo Vänskä was succeeded by Danish conductor Thomas Søndergård.
