Mike & The Mechanics is a British rock/pop supergroup formed in 1985 as a side project by Mike Rutherford, the guitarist and bassist of the band Genesis. The group achieved commercial success with hits such as "Silent Running (On Dangerous Ground)," "All I Need Is a Miracle," "Word of Mouth," "Over My Shoulder," and the GRAMMY-nominated "The Living Years." The band's lineup has changed over the years, with Rutherford being the constant member. Vocalists Paul Carrack and Paul Young were part of the original lineup until Young's death in 2000. Carrack left after the release of the 2004 album "Rewired," and the band went on hiatus.
