Manfred Schoof is a renowned German jazz trumpeter and composer, recognized as one of the leading figures in European free jazz since the 1960s. Born on April 6, 1936, in Magdeburg, Germany, Schoof was part of a wave of European musicians who contributed to the development of a distinctive jazz style on the continent. He was an early member of the Globe Unity Orchestra and has collaborated with a plethora of influential jazz musicians, including Alexander von Schlippenbach and Peter Brötzmann.
