Henry Dumont

Henry Dumont

Henry Dumont (also known as Henri Du Mont or Henricus Du Mont) was a Franco-Flemish Baroque composer, organist, and choirmaster who lived from 1610 to 1684. Born in the Southern Netherlands, which is present-day Belgium, Dumont was a significant figure in the music of the 17th century, particularly during the reign of Louis XIV in France. He served as the organist at the prominent Saint-Paul's Church in Paris before becoming the master of the royal chapel's music. Dumont was one of the first composers to publish separate continuo parts for his sacred vocal works, which was an innovation at that time.
