Seattle Grunge Metal Pioneers

Gruntruck was an American rock band formed in 1989 in Seattle, Washington. They were part of the Pacific Northwest grunge scene and are known for blending grunge with heavy metal influences. The band was created by vocalist/guitarist Ben McMillan and drummer Norman Scott, both previously members of the influential grunge band Skin Yard. Gruntruck released their first album, "Inside Yours," through Roadrunner Records in 1990, followed by their second album "Push" in 1992, which is often considered their most notable work. Despite never achieving the mainstream success of some of their contemporaries like Nirvana or Soundgarden, Gruntruck developed a loyal fan base and were recognized for their contributions to the grunge genre. The band's career was unfortunately impacted by legal disputes with their record label, which hindered their ability to release new music and tour. After a period of inactivity, Gruntruck disbanded in the late 1990s but briefly reunited in the 2000s. Ben McMillan passed away in 2008, which put an end to any potential for future reunions with the original lineup.
