Flying Saucer Attack

Flying Saucer Attack

British experimental space rock band

Flying Saucer Attack is an experimental space rock band that originated in Bristol, England, in the early 1990s. The band was formed by David Pearce and Rachel Brook (who later left to join Movietone, another band from the Bristol scene). Known for their unique blend of folk, drone, and ambient music with a lo-fi, DIY aesthetic, they were part of the "shoegazing" movement, although their sound was less polished and more experimental than many of their contemporaries. Flying Saucer Attack released several albums throughout the 1990s, with their self-titled debut album often referred to as "Rural Psychedelia" due to its fusion of pastoral themes with noisy textures. The band's use of guitar feedback and static noise alongside quieter, more melodic parts became a hallmark of their sound. After a hiatus following the release of "Mirror" in 2000, David Pearce revived Flying Saucer Attack for a new album titled "Instrumentals 2015," reaffirming the band's status as cult icons within the post-rock and experimental music scenes.
