A Tribe Called Quest was an influential hip-hop group that emerged from Queens, New York, in the late 1980s. The group consisted of four members: Q-Tip (Kamaal Ibn John Fareed), Phife Dawg (Malik Izaak Taylor), Ali Shaheed Muhammad, and Jarobi White, who left the group after their first album but remained an informal collaborator. They are widely regarded as pioneers of alternative hip-hop, with their music characterized by socially conscious lyrics, eclectic samples, and innovative jazz-infused beats. Their debut album "People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm" was released in 1990 to critical acclaim, establishing them as a fresh voice in hip-hop.
