The first Le Pop compilation began in 2002 with the previous generation. That's when the genre diluted, with cocktail pop, minimalism and indie replacing accordion and yéyé beats. The 2018 generation continues this, but incorporates a lot more electronic sounds and production styles that come from hip hop and R&B.
