I have no sense of ownership, which probably stems from growing up as a folk singer, where it was understood that songs acquired a patina through interpretation. I feel like that's a mark of excellence," Cohen once said.Here's your chance to experience that excellence through 18 eclectic recordings of Cohen's songs by a variety of artists spanning five decades. You'll hear a version of "Hey, That's No Way To Say Goodbye" from 1967 performed by folk queen Judy Collins, the first-ever artist to record Cohen's song, while a charming rendition of "Famous Blue Raincoat" by Marissa Nadler dates from 2007. - The collection opens with Jeff Buckley's full album version of "Hallelujah," one of the most sublime pieces of music one could wish to hear, and closes with a radical reworking of "Avalanche" by Cohen disciple Nick Cave. Other highlights include a rendition of "Bird On A Wire" by K. D.
