Classical music relaxes, slows down the hectic pace, ensures concentration: in 2001 a double CD CLASSICAL CHILLING was released, filled to the brim with musical places to relax, with music in slow motion by masters such as Bach, Mozart, Beethoven and many others. Now comes the latest version of this hugely successful CLASSICAL CHILLOUT 2009 compilation, expanded with several new tracks. When a classicist thinks "slow", he says "adagio". And whenever he refers to this term, you can be sure that the sounds in the concert hall or from the speakers will bring the listener to a profound calm. No wonder Samuel Barber's famous Adagio (made famous in the film Platoon) opens CLASSICAL CHILLOUT 2009. Slow tempi can be found in great instrumental and vocal music: for example in Karl Jenkins' very lively "Agnus Dei", in Puccini's moving aria "O mio babbino caro" or in Hildegard von Bingen's medieval "Visions" - but also in Debussy's piano piece "Clair de lune", in Bach's piano works or in Handel's popular "Sarabande". In addition, there are a number of titles from the "New Classics" section, such as film music by Ennio Morricone and Michael Nyman or compositions by Steve Reich and Arvo Pärt. The CLASSICAL CHILLOUT 2009 festival will feature top international artists: soloists such as Angela Gheorghiu, Kate Royal, Yehudi Menuhin and orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra, the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields.
