The fact that not only the film itself is celebrated, but also the accompanying soundtrack, is due to the fact that the music is at the heart of the film. Thus, the protagonist William Miller finds carefully selected rock, pop and folk hits from the late 1960s under his childhood bed, which open up a whole new world for him and launch his professional future: the music-loving teenager becomes a rock journalist at Rolling Stone and accompanies the band Stillwater on tour. The partly autobiographical film, based on the life of director Cameron Crowe, is considered an absolute Hollywood milestone and has won countless awards at highly regarded ceremonies such as the Oscars and the Golden Globes. Above all, however, it continues to inspire music fans around the world, as the film is, above all, a stunning ode to fandom. Throughout the film, Miller, Stillwater and co. listen to a number of chart-topping songs from the 1970s - a soundtrack compiled by Crowe himself and brimming with star power: from Led Zepplin to Fleetwood Mac to Elton John - all of whom Crowe won the right to use their songs in the film. The anniversary albums now present these songs in a variety of combinations and formats, and some of them include the film's dialogue and Stillwater demos and jams.
