The new LP (unlike its country and rockabilly-oriented predecessor) strongly reflected the "first wave of American punk" with idols like the Dead Boys, the Dickies, X and Johnny Thunders. Incidentally, Social Distortion, who formed in the early '80s in Orange Country, Southern California, managed to get a producer for "White Light..." none other than Michael Beinhorn (Soundgarden, Red Hot Chili Peppers).
