Like its predecessor, the album contained various hits by the successful duo of Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman. In the UK and some other European countries, the tracks "Something's Been Making Me Blue" and "I'll Meet You at Midnight" were big hits, while the excellent single "Wild Wild Angels" was particularly strong in the German charts. The album as a whole offers the catchy rock music that Smokie has thrilled fans with over the years. In the 1970s, this British rock-pop group was one of the world's most popular. "Midnight Café" held the German album chart for an incredible 9.5 months after its release in April 1976. It reached number six.
