Product information The Photographer is a chamber opera by the world-famous composer Philip Glass, first performed in 1982 at the Royal Palace in Amsterdam. The story revolves around the life and work of photographer Eadweard Muybridge, a pioneer of motion picture studies and film projection in the 19th century. Central to the story is the trial of Muybridge for the murder of the alleged real father of his child, of which Muybridge was indeed found guilty. A notable outcome of the trial was that Muybridge was not punished on the grounds of unjustifiable homicide". The Photographer is one of the works that fills the gap between Philip Glass's early compositions up to Einstein on the Beach and his later compositions for more traditional instrumentation. Classical will be releasing more works by this fantastic composer in the future.
