Press and critics around the world celebrated the brutal beauty of this insane sonic assault. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the release of this masterpiece. Rhino is celebrating the occasion with an exclusive 2CD release that includes, in addition to the completely remastered album, previously unreleased footage of a live performance at the 1994 Monsters Of Rock festival. Following the breakthrough Pantera achieved with 1992's "Vulgar Display Of Power" (double platinum), singer Philip Anselmo, guitarist Dimebag Darrell (†2004), bassist Rex Brown and drummer Vinnie Paul returned in March 1994 with Far Beyond Driven, which stayed at number one on the Billboard charts for the next seven months and is still considered the heaviest album ever to top the charts. The twelve tracks on the album continued the hard-hitting lineage of its predecessor, with heavy metal assaults like the first single "I'm Broken", as well as mosh pit classics like "5 Minutes Alone" and "Slaughtered". Highlights also included an original and highly successful acoustic cover of Black Sabbath's "Caravan", which became a fan favorite during the album tour. Fans already familiar with "Far Beyond Driven" should find a welcome addition on the second CD of the anniversary edition. Titled "Far Beyond Bootleg - Live From Donnington '94", the CD contains the complete concert footage from the June 4, 1994 Monsters Of Rock festival in Donnington, U.K. The 40-minute show contained the essence of three of Pantera's previous albums including "Use My Third Arm" and "Strength Beyond Strength", the uber-hit "Walk" as well as "Mouth For War" and "This Love" from the album Vulgar Display Of Power . The title track from the Cowboys From Hell album and the live combos "Domination" and "Hollow" can also be heard in Pantera's best live violence.
