Mikael Åkerfeldt, as the band's main songwriter, managed to successfully transfer his dark emotions into all those twisted solos, surrounded by a wall of even heavier riffs. Opeth's technical prowess sets them apart from their followers and peers alike, and accordingly, Ghost Reveries is definitely one of the best metal albums ever recorded.
