Rediscover Mike Oldfield With the album "Discovery", Mike Oldfield continues his sought-after series of reissues. More than 30 years after the release of the original album, the recording has been completely remastered and expanded to include some rarities. "Discovery" is the British multi-instrumentalist's ninth studio album. Apart from the percussion parts, played by his old friend Simon Phillips, Oldfield played all the instruments himself. Barry Palmer from the German band Triumvirat and Maggie Reilly, who has already contributed to the albums "QE2", "Five Miles Out" and "Crises", contributed vocals. Despite playing their respective roles, Oldfield and Reilly did not meet once during the recording of "Discovery". Instead, the tracks were recorded separately. The original album contained a total of eight tracks, including the single "To France" and the instrumental "The Lake". The 2016 remastered version featured five bonus songs, including three tracks from the 12" single "To France" and two more songs from the B-side single "Tricks Of The Light". "Discovery" is also available in a deluxe edition. In addition to the remastered and expanded album, it includes a second CD and DVD. The CD "The 1984 Suite" contains tracks from "Discovery" and the soundtrack to the film "The Killing Fields" and other rarities. The DVD contains the film "The 1984 Suite" in 5.1 surround sound and three promotional videos. The title says it all: "Discovery" (Remastered 2015) takes Mike Oldfield fans on an audio journey of discovery. Legendary songs meet modern sound.
