The Pale Emperor is the ninth studio album by American rock band Marilyn Manson , released on January 19, 2015 by Interscope Records. It is the band's first album since the departure of longtime bassist Twiggy Ramirez and the first to feature Tyler Bates as co-producer. The album was recorded in Hollywood, California and mixed by Andy Wallace. The album's title track was released as the album's lead single on December 15, 2014. "The Mephistopheles of Los Angeles" was released as the album's second single on May 12, 2015. "Third Day of a Seven Day Binge" was released as the album's third single on September 11, 2015. The album received mostly positive reviews from music critics. On Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album received an average score of 71, which is a "generally favorable rating" based on 10 reviews.
