Pro-Ject Audio Systems launches a series of classical music reissues on vinyl with this 180g double LP. The original master tapes of this recording have been analogue remastered by Georg Burdicek (Tonzauber). Pressed with the highest precision in the Pallas pressing plant at 33 rpm, the LP reproduces the 1971 recording in the Great Hall of the Vienna Musikverein in top quality. Karl Böhm occupies a special place in the history of the Vienna Philharmonic. In 1967, the orchestra was the first to award the title of "honorary conductor" to a doctor of law. Until then, only Herbert von Karajan had received this award. The relationship between conductor and orchestra was intimate, as Böhm's words on the occasion of their last meeting reveal: "I loved them as much as one can love a person. I first heard them in the standing stalls of the Musikverein when I was first allowed to conduct 'Tristan' at the State Opera."In his Symphony No. 6, Ludwig van Beethoven elaborated his impressions of the urban man in the countryside and imitated the sounds of nature by instrumental means. The Pastorale is considered a forerunner of 19th century program music.
