KK's Priest - Sermons of the Sinner - 10 new tracks is a musical statement that KK Downing's heavy metal ride is far from over after a long hiatus. "The whole concept is that I'm still proud of who I am and what I do," Downing explains. "It's been almost a decade. I'm back and making music." Downing put together former Judas Priest singer Tim "Ripper" Owens, guitarist for Hostile A.J. Mills, former Voodoo Six bassist Tony Newton and DeathRiders/Cage drummer Sean Elgo and formed Sermons Of The Sinner. Downing says that the word "Sinner" in the album title refers to his famous solo in the eponymous classic song, and notes that fans always hope new music will sound like classic Judas Priest. KK Priest's new material is definitely an homage. They've released an album with a modern sound that goes back to what fans have always loved about Downing and his music, yet still sounds fresh. The quick album opener "Hellfire Thunderbolt" offers a fictional look at how metal came before the masses were ready for it. Riveting rock tracks like "Raise Your Fists" and "Wild And Free" brim with the passion and exaggeration that metal fans appreciate. The guitar playing is intense and inspiring and the band is going full speed ahead.
