Shape-shifting progressive metal pioneer IHSAHN will release "Pharos", the second of two contrasting but interconnected EPs, this fall. "Pharos" is a light to the darkness of "Telemark" and features three original tracks and two covers: a gentle but faithful version of "Manhattan Skyline" by Norwegian pop stalwarts A-HA and the haunting "Roads", originally by British trip-hop collective PORTISHEAD. "Pharos" is musically and conceptually like a reverse image of "Telemark," IHSAHN explains. While "Telemark" was about familiar and obvious things, "Pharos" would take a more detached view and a more exploratory mindset. "Pharos" was recorded at IHSAHN's home studio and TOBIAS SOLBAKK recorded the drums at Jukes Joint Studio, even before the closure that changed the perception of the way music is consumed and created. Coincidentally, the EP's three original tracks deal with the societal changes we all face. The soaring orchestral opener "Losing Altitude" is a song of possibility, while "Spectre At The Feast" has a cinematic, Bond-esque pop sensibility, describing the somewhat superficial aspects of society and all its fictional problems and fragilities.
