As the small steps become giant leaps, so does the growing stable of supporting players, who continually shine in their own mischievous light. The excitement grows as Schuldiner, his band and the world around him evolves, and the music becomes more outrageous and bombastic. The threat of DEATH varies from a simple zombie attack to multi-headed mega-monsters hell-bent on devouring entire planets. Then suddenly Chuck just disappears and the lights go out. The formula of band movies dictates that victory is snatched from the clutches of death in the final act. This is where things get weird. Chuck Schuldiner died at the lowest ebb of heavy metal, and perhaps at the quietest moment of his own career.
