Idea is a music and multimedia arts label run by Heather Northam & Troy Curry founded in 1998. Impelled by a love of transcendental music from all eras and exemplary modern art, the label combines the aural and visual into one package. Since 2001, artists from around the globe realized some of their most ambitious work through the Idea imprint. Outsider electronics and shimmering guitar minimalism from Australia and Tasmania, primal boogie-rock from Japan, incandescent drone from rural Germany (Mirror) , seasonal meditations for violin and computer from Sweden, and field recordings from the UK found a conduit in Idea. Idea has since released archival work from Fluxus/ONCE composer Philip Krumm, Boogie Guitar from Tetuzi Akiyama, field recordings from Daisuke Suzuki, heavy minimalism from Brendan Walls, Oren Ambarchi, contemporary electronic music from Sweden Ivan Pavlov/ COH and left field poetics From Tucker Zimmerman & Joshua Burkett, Mike Cooper as well Tim Barnes and Jeph Jerman.
