The Graham Bond Organization

The Graham Bond Organization

British R&B and jazz group

The Graham Bond Organization was a British rhythm and blues band formed in the early 1960s by Graham Bond, a multi-instrumentalist who played the Hammond organ and saxophone. The group was influential in the development of British rhythm and blues and included notable musicians such as Jack Bruce on bass and vocals, Ginger Baker on drums, and Dick Heckstall-Smith on saxophone. Both Bruce and Baker would later gain fame as members of the rock supergroup Cream. The Graham Bond Organization was known for its fusion of jazz, R&B, and blues, and for Bond's pioneering use of the Hammond organ in a rock context. Despite not achieving significant commercial success during their active years, the band is now recognized for its role in shaping the sound of British rock music in the 1960s. Their albums "The Sound Of 65" and "There Is A Bond Between Us" are examples of their work from this period. Graham Bond's personal life was troubled, and he struggled with drug addiction; he died under mysterious circumstances in 1974.
