Legendary American Composer and Songwriter

Richard Rodgers was an eminent American composer of music for more than 900 songs and for 43 Broadway musicals. He is best known for his songwriting partnerships with the lyricists Lorenz Hart and Oscar Hammerstein II. His collaborations with Hammerstein led to the creation of some of the most enduring works in the American musical theater canon, including "Oklahoma!" (1943), "Carousel" (1945), "South Pacific" (1949), "The King and I" (1951), and "The Sound of Music" (1959). Rodgers was also responsible for the music in the television series "Victory at Sea," which was later adapted into a suite of recordings released across multiple volumes. His work has had a profound impact on American culture, earning him countless accolades, including multiple Tony Awards, Academy Awards, and Pulitzer Prizes.
