TheLimetree HEADPHONE is a high quality headphone amplifier that can also be used as an excellent linear preamplifier. It has three line-level signal inputs, one headphone output and one line-level signal output. The inputs can be used to connect CD players, network players, USB DACs or phono preamps.

The circuit is designed around a high-end analogue volume level control and a high-performance 'Diamond Buffer'. This buffer operates in Class A with no negative feedback and is technically and sonically unmatched in headphone amplifier design. Especially at low volume levels, this technology delivers excellent resolution. Noise and distortion level readings are close to the limit of the resolution capability of modern measurement devices.

The control range of the volume level control can be matched to the impedance of the headphones by a DIP switch on the bottom of the device. The best components from renowned manufacturers are used - an example of this is in the studiosThe volume control potentiometer used in the studies, or close-tolerance capacitors and resistors from Japan.

A high quality external "Medical Grade" transformer with exceptional resistance to interference is used as a power supply. Thanks to sophisticated filtering and special voltage regulators, the power supply achieves exceptionally low noise and voltage ripple values below 10 µV.

We recommend headphones with a range of 32 to 200 ? with normal sensitivity (min 100 dB/mW). This will give you an undistorted, dynamic sound image and ensure that your amplifier will always operate in the acoustically best Class A operating mode.
