To extend the life of your drive belt, never touch it with your hands.When installing or manually changing the speed, use the special plastic wrench (supplied as a standard accessory with Pro-Ject turntables) and install the belt using the key on the pulley.

WHEN IS IT NECESSARY TO CHANGE THE STRAP?

Every turntable with a belt drive requires regular belt replacement. Exactly when this replacement is necessary depends on several circumstances such as environmental influences, frequency of use, etc.If you notice that the turntable is not reaching full speed, not maintaining the correct speed, fluctuating or cannot switch the rotation speed, it is time for the belt to reach its life limit.
To prevent these symptoms, a regular check of the belt is necessary. Remove the strap from the turntable and slightly tighten it. A good quality strap should not show any slight distortion of cohesion. If you see any cracks, it means that the strap has dried out over time and timely replacement is necessary.
If you do not use the turntable regularly and after a period of prolonged inactivity, the strap may stretch or break spontaneously.The straps dry out and age spontaneously and this process cannot be stopped. High temperatures and humidity have such a significant effect on the life of the straps. Regular strap replacement is thus a necessity and a guarantee of quality sound.
